Pandean Village is one of the villages at the foot of Mount Telomoyo and serves as a center for vegetable production, particularly chili. The chili production in this village is known to be around 150,000 kg/40 ha/year. These products are sold fresh to traders at fluctuating prices, especially for products that do not meet traders’ criteria. Therefore, it is necessary to develop processed chili products that are healthy and safe in Pandean Village to increase the selling value and the economy of the farmers in this area. In this regard, the Pharmacy Department of FK Undip is collaborating with the Pandean Village Government to enhance the marketability of agricultural products, particularly chili, by processing it into chili oil.
The role of Pharmacy in ensuring food safety can be carried out by providing training to the community on how to produce healthy and hygienic food. Assistance is provided by offering counseling on the procedures for making the products and introducing them to the community at the Gala Medica event. Additionally, the product is also introduced as one of UNDIP’s Innovation Products in a series of events organized by the UNDIP Innovation Agency. Quality assurance and nutritional value are conducted through laboratory testing, including stability tests and proximate analysis.
